A plastic blister packing is a two-piece package made up of a front-facing, clear thermoformed plastic blister that is sealed on its back to a pre-printed blister card. Blister packs are an inexpensive way to combine the visibility of a clamshell with the graphics of a folding carton.
Blister packs are pre-formed plastic packaging typically used for small consumer goods and pharmaceuticals.
The primary component of a blister pack is a clear cavity (or pocket) made from a formable web of thermoformed plastic. The pack usually has a sealed backing of paperboard, foil or plastic. A two-sided blister that folds onto itself is often called a clamshell package.
The most common materials used by blister pack manufacturers are PVC, PETG and PET.
