Recently, the Quality Supervision Section of Huli District Market Supervision Bureau of Xiamen City took the lead in the investigation of a case of selling disposable foamed plastic lunch boxes expressly prohibited by the state according to clues. 3100 disposable foamed plastic lunch boxes were seized on the spot. The store involved in the case is located on Heshan Road, mainly dealing in daily necessities such as pots and pans and disposable catering appliances.
The white disposable foam lunch box is wrapped with a layer of thin plastic bags of different colors, such as red, green, yellow and white. The bag mouth is placed on the ground with a knot at random. The name of main raw and auxiliary materials, precautions for use, product description and other information are printed on the outside of the bag, but no information such as production license number is found.
The party concerned explained that the purchase price of these disposable lunch boxes was much cheaper than the regular commodities, and they were very competitive in price. They were generally sold to roadside snack stalls, small restaurants and fast food restaurants.
The law enforcement personnel seriously pointed out that the behavior of selling disposable foamed plastic lunch boxes violated the provision of Article 35 of the Product Quality Law of the People’s Republic of China that “the seller shall not sell products that have been eliminated and stopped by the state and invalid and deteriorated products”.
The law enforcement personnel seized 3100 disposable foamed plastic lunch boxes on the scene according to law and put them on file for investigation.
The law enforcement personnel remind the majority of operators to consciously do not purchase or sell disposable foam plastic tableware, effectively prevent plastic pollution, and protect the health of consumers.

How to choose and buy disposable tableware correctly?
Look at the packaging: When purchasing lunch boxes, you should choose the products with good packaging, pay attention to the production date and shelf life, and avoid selecting products beyond the shelf life to prevent bacteria and mold.
Look at the label: it should be clear whether the product name, material, name, address, contact information, production date and shelf life (when applicable) of the manufacturer and (or) distributor are identified according to the requirements of the national food safety standard, National Food Safety Standard General Safety Requirements for Food Contact Materials and Products.
Look at the appearance: you should choose the lunch box with smooth surface and uniform color, and try to choose the colorless and transparent products without decorative patterns.
Smell: you can smell it first to see if it is foul smelling. A normal lunch box should be odorless and tasteless. The use of tasty lunch boxes to contain food may affect food safety, so purchase and use should be avoided.
